Fahrradfreundliche Grüße aus der Lokalpolitik

Best regards from Düsseldorf & Meerbusch

We are very pleased that our two host cities, Düsseldorf and Meerbusch, are well-disposed towards us year by year and that the city leaders are also self-confessed CYCLINGWORLD visitors.

For this reason, we do not want to withhold the welcome messages we’ve got from our mayors at this point.

Greetings from Dusseldorf

Dear visitors,

the bicycle is the most flexible, cost-effective and sustainable mobility solution. In addition, cycling is not only healthy, it is simply fun. More and more Düsseldorf residents are realizing this. The proportion of bicycle traffic in Düsseldorf has been growing continuously for years and is already over 19%. As the state capital, we are pursuing the goal of increasing cycling in our city up to 25%. To this end, we are working to become one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in Germany. The bicycle can and must make an important contribution in the transport sector so that we can achieve our major goal of climate neutrality by 2035. We are all very pleased that Cyclingworld Europe, a first-class trade fair, has established itself in our city and offers cycling culture a place where innovative and attractive brands from the bicycle and e-bike industry from all over the world present themselves. Bringing bike enthusiasts together is an important contribution to positioning the bike as an attractive mobility solution in everyday life. We wish all exhibitors and visitors interesting and successful days.

Your Lord Mayor

Dr Stephan Keller

Greetings from Meerbusch

The Cycling World and Meerbusch – that fits together. Cycling in Meerbusch is fun. Meerbusch has been involved in the Working Group for Cycle-Friendly Cities (AGFS) NRW since 2016. Active participation there is an obligation for us, because we want local mobility to be more sustainable and gentler. The bicycle is an important pacesetter on that way . We are constantly working to make cycling in Meerbusch more attractive and safer. Only in this way the bicycle will become a serious alternative to the car. An expansion concept for bike paths was launched, the first bike street was created, a number of new parking spaces were created, our support program for cargo bikes was a great success. Events such as the annual city cycling, the convivial “Meerbuscher Rad-Nacht” or the Niederrheinische Radwandertag (Lower Rhine Radwandertag) always put the bicycle in the spotlight in a friendly way. In 2017 we co-hosted the Grand Départ of the Tour de France, and the enthusiasm was huge. Cyclingworld, which has grown into one of the largest cycling and e-bike shows since 2017, is something like the icing on the cake. The spectacular ambience in the halls of Areal Böhler is the ideal backdrop when it comes to present innovative and stylish products from the bicycle and e-bike world. The offer not only attracts bicycle freaks from all over Europe, but everyone for whom the bicycle is more than just a trendy means of transport. As I said: Cyclingworld and Meerbusch – that fits! So I was very happy to take over the patronage of the trade fair and I’m looking forward to three exciting days all about cycling in our city. See you at Areal Böhler in Meerbusch!
